Venice

Hello Ladies !

Hope you are all doing well, I'm stuck at home cause of this bad weather :(. And since all the cleaning and the cooking is ready I ended up having nothing to do, so I was thinking why not give some tips on travelling?

I'm no expert but when ever we decide to go abroad I always take care of the flight tickets, accommodation & where to go once we reach our destination.

Many of you right now are thinking , but there are travel agents to do this job?. You are right but isn't it better if  you take care of all the stuff and pay LESS?

Today we are going to talk about Venice, cause Easter is on the way and the weather will be super great.

We went last year for my birthday end of November BAD BAD idea. It rained alot and the high tide (Alta marea) makes it difficult to use some of the roads. And you might risk that the Gondola won't work either and going to Venice and not going on a Gondola is like going in a restaurant and not eat !!

No kidding this is the high tide (Alta marea)

If you buy Ryanair tickets, the plane will land in Treviso. Don't panic once you get your luggage find the way out, and before you go out there you will find Ticket boots for the Coach. If  I'm not mistaken it costed us something like 5 Euro each. The coach will be outside waiting for you. :) The trip only takes 30 to 40 mins. There is only one stop that is Venice station and theat is where the water starts. Don't forget your luggage in the coach!Start walking towards the glass stairs, where you will find a ticket boot where you will buy your ticket to board the boat that will take you to your hotel, or else swim it. :)

Basically it's like you are using the bus (Arriva) the only thing is that they are always on time :) and it has no wheels since it's a boat. So you buy a day ticket and you can use any boat you want..3 day tickets are cheaper.

This is your transport while in Venice (Vaporetto)

So when you book ask them for the stage name, every stop that the Vaporetto takes has a name, then there are streets to reach the hotel. Once you get there you will need a Map, but basically all we did was we started to stop at each stop that the vaporetto stops and go down and look around.

Don't imagine that you are going for a shopping spree, cause the shops that are in Venice are Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada etc etc. But still i loved window shopping.

The famous gondola. So this is quite expensive and a ride of 15 or 20 mins costs 100 Euro but it takes up to 4 people so you can share a goldola, that's what we did and if you want the Senerata (the guy that sings on the boat) you have to pay extra.

Now it's time to eat!! Most of the restaurants are for tourists so it's like you landed in Bugibba, with the difference that they have excellent food and the price range for a dinner without wine is 60 Euro. Well there is Mc Donalds too if you want :)

Tip for restaurants: Never go in a restaurant in a main road, because they will be more expensive! Use side streets restaurants & all restaurants are equipped with a menu outside.

Once you start looking around, you will notice how nice is a life without cars & you will start wondering how they deliver stuff to restaurants, how the police work, how they collect the garbage??

They do every thing on boats :)

Next step was to buy some masks. There are many different prices and makes of masks, If you buy a ceramic face mask from a shop it will cost you more then 150 Euro.

But since we don't find money on the streets every day we went to Rialto and there we found a market. Woooow! All sorts of masks colors and shapes. We bought some from a lady and she asked us if we were Maltese, and took us at the back of the stand in a garage to choose the masks from there (to tell you the truth I was afraid she was going to steal us, but she ended up being a good lady.)

So
Gondola........... Check
Masks...............Check
Good Food....... Check
Romantic........... Check
No high tide......If you're lucky enough......... Check

Hotel we stayed in was Al Canal Reggio and we booked from www.booking.com. It's not a big hotel but its very very cute at a good price.

So ladies hope you like it and if you didn't go yet . I promise you it's a very nice place to visit.
