Sharma

Hello Ladies,

Today I wanted to share with you a great place where I have only went once, but will definitely return!

SHARMA ethnic cuisine, don't be fooled by the name it's not only INDIAN food.
They serve Indian, Arabian & for those of you who don't like these types of  food but want to go enjoy the lovely place they even serve Mediterranean food.

Few months ago a friend of mine updated some photos on Facebook, and when I saw them I knew immediately I had to go to this restaurant so I asked her the name of the place and she said SHARMA in Mdina. Since my sister's birthday was on the way we decided to book on that date. I was really looking forward to it.

Our booking was at 8.30pm and as usual we were late, and we didn't know where the place is.Since Mdina is a maze we didn't want to risk getting lost so we called my sister's boyfriend. But in a second he gave us the wrong directions and he was going to send us around Mdina in that freezing cold..... grrrrrrrr!!

Simple directions to SHARMA..Park near the football ground (under Mdina) then pass trough the door of MDINA first turn on the LEFT (remember LEFT) and then keep going straight ... you'll know when you get there.

Once you're in Sharma it's like you're in another country, everything is as it should be to make the place look ethnic. Now you are just a fleet of stairs away from it all, by now you are already smelling all the spices and the food smells terrific.

The staff greeted us and showed us to our table and gave us the menus. In the meantime we ordered some drinks. No metter how many times you go to an Indian restaurant you always need help with the menu, and here at SHARMA they come and explain everything.

Another thing about this restaurant are the prices on the wine list I'm sure it will make you look twice. All the prices of the wines are the same prices that we buy them from the liquor shop (cheap) . And you can even take your own wine with you and they just charge you the corkage free, which is Euro 4.50 ONLY.

We ordered food and in the meantime we went to smoke a cigarette (I don't smoke) but I didn't want to stay alone on the table so I had to suffer the freezing weather we have right now.brrrrrrrrrrrr.We didn't go again loooool.

Tips on ordering food! We were 4 people so, every one chose a different plate and then we shared.

Food started to come....first we got some pompadums with mango chutney sauce , followed with a  platter with some chicken marinated in some wonderful sauce, vegetable samosas and onion bhajis.

 Platter

Onion Bhajis

After a while and some talking & more drinking the main course started to arrive...When you see the portions you will think it's not enough. Don't be tempted to call the waiter and order more,We ordered Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, then some lamb which I forgot the name and some more chicken (sorry for not remembering the name of the plates but they are not easy to remember :) ). Some rice and last but not least my favorite: Naan bread .

Another tip: Naan bread....don't order alot cause it will get cold , If when you start eating you think it's not enough, just call the staff and they will get you more.

This was the best part of all the evening. The food was perfect but since I go crazy for sweets ( I know I'm not the only one : ).  Don't tell me what the small sweets were but I can assure you it was HEAVEN in a BOWL. Ask for the Oriental Treats.

A friend of our told us that the tables have names. We thought he was joking but we still asked the staff at Sharma, guess what!!! Each table has a name our was Benghazi. Ask for your table name :).

Ps: for all those of you ladies who think that Indian food is spicy think again cause they can make it as spicy (or not at all) as you want.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention....there was live music at the restaurant which totally complemented the decor!

It was a great night...can't wait to go back again!!! :)

Don't forget to join us on Facebook!
